The End Times Bible Prophecy Newsletter, Issue #006 December 16, 2010 |
Hello, What a joy it is to study bible prophecy and gain insight into the Lord's Word. Thanks for joining us! Below are the headline topics of this month's newsletter:
Next Step: Trains, Boats, MetroThe big news leading up to the Thanksgiving weekend was the new airport security procedures in American airports. In addition to the full body scanners, the Department of Homeland Security introduced full body searches of passengers by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel. In my opinion, these searches are illegal under the Constitution, and they give us glimpse into what a future American police state would look like. Think I'm exaggerating? Then tell me exactly what the difference is between a major American airport today and a totalitarian police state. Other than the fact that you can escape the American airport police state once you leave airport grounds, I really can't find one. So if the government is now running our airports like a police state, what happens when they move these same "security procedures" into other public arenas - train stations, bus stations, tunnels, malls, or Wal-Mart? When that happens, we will have a bona fide police state. And, of course, that's exactly what the government intends to do. As The Hill reports:
To me, the fact that this is no longer a big news story is big news. Where's the outrage? It's been over 9 years since the September 11th terrorist attacks. Why are these new procedures so important all of a sudden? Has a single terrorist been caught using these tactics? And even if terrorists were being caught, is it worth trading liberty for the mere promise of security? When Americans are willing to tolerate scenes like this, where a 4-year-old boy is essentially strip-searched in public, then what level of civil liberties violations will the American public ultimately endure? When freedom disappears, it will be because an apathetic free people willingly submitted themselves to the whims of the state. So where is all this going? President Obama provided us with an advance preview when he said, "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." (See the video of that statement). With TSA agents now at work in American airports, we're beginning to see what he meant. Now, does this mean Obama is building a private army like the Gestapo? No. But what he is doing (like many of his predecessors) is enlarging the size and power of the federal government, so that one day, another president might use the overwhelming power of government to create a monarchy. Regardless of how it happens, the Bible tells us that one day a single tyrannical dictator will rule over the entire world:
FCC Push to Regulate News Draws FireRecently, FCC Commissioner Michael Copps suggested in a speech that broadcasters be subject to a new "public values test" every four years as part of the license renewal process. As The Hill reports: Copps had suggested that the test would make a broadcaster's license renewal contingent upon proof that they meet a prospective set of federal criteria. He said outlets should be mandated to do the following: prove they have made a meaningful commitment to public affairs and news programming, prove they are committed to diversity programming (for instance, by showing that they depict women and minorities), report more to the government about which shows they plan to air, require greater disclosure about who funds political ads and devote 25 percent of their prime-time coverage to local news." Such action would essentially put the radio and television news media under the thumb of the executive branch, since any violation of these standards could lead to a revocation of a network's license - an event which would destroy the media outlet in question. Such power in the hands of the executive branch is frightening, and it goes against the spirit, if not the letter, of First Amendment law. Certainly, if the Founders could have envisioned network television, radio, or the Internet, they would have included them along with print media when articulating the universal right to a free press. Fears of Domino EffectFrom The Wall Street Journal:
Throughout the year, the European debt crisis continues to rear its ugly head. It's only a matter of time before the bailouts needed to avoid a sovereign default by a nation such as Spain reach beyond the ability of the European Union to handle. When this happens, one of two things will happen: 1) the break-up of the European Union, or 2) the elimination of political and economic sovereignty among EU states. Given the decades long investment in the European Union by the European political class, the latter is the more likely scenario. The reality is that the single currency system doesn't work for the EU the way it works in the United States, because the US operates under a federal system of government while the EU remains a loose collection of states with differing cultures, governments, fiscal policies, and trade policies. Ultimately, this creates imbalances which benefit the stronger nations (like Germany) while hampering the weaker nations (like Greece). Daniel, when interpreting Nebuchadnezzar's dream, made a similar observation of a future worldwide empire:
Other HeadlinesNorth Korea Fires on SouthFrom AFP:
This isn't just a conflict between North Korea and South Korea. As was the case during the Cold War, these two nations are serving as proxies for two more significant powers. North Korea is highly unlikely to take any decisive action without China's approval, and likewise, the United States has been committed to South Korea's defense for over 50 years. If war were to break out, it would signal a monumental change in how one or both of these superpowers view the world's current geopolitical power structure and world stability in general. In last month's newsletter, we addressed the possibility that China launched a missile off the coast of California - the idea being that they wanted to send a message to the United States. If the Chinese Communists were behind the California missile launch, it's quite possible that North Korea's actions are the continuation of a Chinese international messaging campaign directed at the United States. The question you need to ask is - what message are they sending?
