1) We're Back!

It’s been almost three years since I posted regular content to End Times Bible Prophecy, and that includes the regular publication of this newsletter. This is due to a number of events, such as the birth of our son Tommy, but it’s mostly due to my focus on writing three bible prophecy related books that will be released as eBooks and paperbacks by the end of this year. The first of those three books is highlighted below.

Once all three books are released, you will see new articles posted on a regular basis once again. In the meantime, this newsletter is scheduled to go out quarterly from now on.

Our family is very excited about the pending release of these books, as we believe they will bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to more and more people. 3) Increase in High Magnitude Earthquakes

Over the years, I've encountered a number of articles refuting claims that worldwide earthquake activity is on the rise. Many of these articles reach valid conclusions given that they target specific claims based on faulty data or false premises. In addition, the sample size of the data we have (seismographs have only been in widespread use for about 100 years) makes it nearly impossible to make any conclusive pronouncements.

However, that said, the data we do have suggests that we're currently witnessing an increase in high magnitude (8.0 or greater) earthquakes. Just check out the following data from the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) composite catalog. This is a list of the number of earthquakes registering 8.0 or greater on the Richter Scale in each decade since 1900:

• 1900's - 3 earthquakes
• 1910's - 0 earthquakes
• 1920's - 1 earthquakes
• 1930's - 1 earthquakes
• 1940's - 1 earthquakes
• 1950's - 1 earthquakes
• 1960's - 3 earthquakes
• 1970's - 2 earthquakes
• 1980's - 3 earthquakes
• 1990's - 7 earthquakes
• 2000's - 13 earthquakes
• 2010's - 7 earthquakes so far

This includes the recent 8.2 in Chile on April 1st. 52 months into the current decade, this puts us on pace for 16 such earthquakes - a 23% increase over the last decade and a 128% increase over the decade of the 1990's.

So why does this matter? Because Jesus told His disciples that one of the signs of His coming would be an increase in the frequency and intensity of wars, famines, and earthquakes (Matthew 24:7-8). Jesus said the pattern of these events would simulate the contractions of a woman in labor. And as you know, labor contractions increase in both frequency and intensity as the moment of birth nears.

While it's nearly impossible to measure increases in the frequency of earthquakes in general (because we've lacked the widespread use of sophisticated instrumentation for much of human history), it is possible to measure increases or decreases in frequency of intense earthquakes (8.0 or greater) in the recent past. For much of the past century, we've had the technology to accurately record occurances of high magnitude earthquakes throughout the world. So the trend outlined above is notable. Given the convergence of so many other signs Jesus and the Bible told us to look for, I think it's yet another reason to believe that Jesus will return in the near future!
